Colter Hoyt - Residential Counselor

Colter grew up in Boulder Colorado, and graduated from Western State College in Gunnison with a liberal arts degree. He has a lifelong interest in nature (and conducts a weekly hike for the Milestones clients), a passion developed and fostered in childhood by his parents, who took him backpacking at least twice a year. Colter spent several summer vacations at rigorous outdoor survival camps, and later worked at a ski area for two years as a lift operator and ski-instructor.

Colter loves people, history, biology, religion, and cultural anthropology. He has backpacked through South America, learned Spanish in Guatemala, driven to Panama, and become certified in scuba in Honduras. He has witnessed and participated in numerous sacred Native American ceremonies with several tribes, and built several thousand Native American-style flutes.

Colter has also worked as a Mentor/Advocate for teens, acting as a liaison between teen, parent, probation officer, and social worker. He loves the Milestone staff, clients and program, and says, “I believe that the people I help are amazing, beautiful, and powerful, especially when they find their sobriety.”
