Ron Borczon, MT-BC, founded the Music Therapy Department at Cal State Northridge in 1984. After more than 20 years, Ron remains Director of the program, one of only three in the State of California. He is also the founder and Director of the Music Therapy Wellness Clinic at Cal State Northridge.
Ron has been awarded numerous regional and national awards for his pioneering work in music therapy, and has written two textbooks on the subject (published by Barcelona Publishing). He has developed unique approaches in working with trauma victims through music, and was instrumental in helping the victims of the Northridge earthquake, Oklahoma City bombing, and the shootings at Columbine and Santee High Schools.
Philosophically, Ron believes, “Music moves us and allows us to express feelings when words cannot be found.”
